LickiMat – Dogs

Developed by veterinarians, Lickimat® lick mats are playful and stimulating food-grade silicone occupation toys to fill with dry, wet, raw food or as slow feed. They slow down the ingestion of food, soothe by promoting the production of endorphins which reduce stress. Repetitive licking is soothing to your pet, releasing calming hormones into the body. The Lickimat® is ideal for calming and mentally distracting the animal during a more or less stressful situation such as crate training, vet visits, grooming (showering, grooming etc), car rides, storms and fireworks. THE Lickimat® increases the production of saliva facilitating digestion and thus contributing to better breath by scraping bacteria and undigested food particles from the tongue.

Lickimat® are multi-purpose: you can use them to give a simple treat to your animal or serve it all its daily meals. Most Lickimat® are dishwasher safe. For those that are not machine washable, just soak them for a few minutes in warm soapy water and clean the residue if necessary with a small brush.

Lickimat® are not toys. Never leave your pet unattended when giving it a lick mat.

Use of Lickimat®
Fill the Lickimat® with food that your dog likes such as canned fish, yoghurt, cooked squash, mashed banana, pure meat mash. Mix everything with a little water. Spread a small circle in the middle of the lick mat. Place the mat on the floor in front of your dog or place it in the freezer. If your dog tries to chew on the mat, distract him and remove the mat. Try again 5 to 10 minutes later. When you want to remove the carpet, repeat the operation. Wait 10 minutes after taking it out of the freezer before giving it to your dog.
